FAQs
What metals does Aerospace Metals keep in stock?
We maintain a strategic inventory of common aerospace and commercial alloys, including Aluminum (6061, 7075, 2024), Stainless Steel (304, 316, 17-4), Carbon Steel, and Titanium. Our inventory fluctuates, so please contact Aerospace Metals for real-time availability.
Do you sell full bars/sheets or can you cut to size?
Aerospace Metals specializes in cut-to-size services. You do not need to buy full mill lengths. We offer precision plate sawing, bar cutting, shearing, and waterjet cutting to provide "near-net shape" blanks, reducing your material waste and machining time.
Can Aerospace Metals source hard-to-find exotic alloys?
Yes. If we don't have a specific alloy on our floor, we leverage deep relationships with master distributors across North America. Aerospace Metals can source high-temp superalloys (Inconel, Hastelloy), specialty tool steels, and rare titanium grades that standard service centers often cannot find.
Do your materials come with Mill Test Reports (MTRs)?
Yes, absolutely. Full traceability is a cornerstone of our business. Aerospace Metals ensures all material shipments can include full Mill Test Reports (MTRs) confirming chemical composition, mechanical properties, and heat lot traceability upon request.
What is "near-net shape" processing?
Near-net shape processing means Aerospace Metals cuts the raw material as close to your final part dimensions as possible. For example, we can waterjet cut a circle instead of selling you a square block. This significantly reduces your machine cycle time and tool wear.
Can you supply materials to Mil-Spec or AMS standards?
Yes. We regularly supply materials that meet specific AMS (Aerospace Material Specifications), ASTM, and Mil-Spec standards. Please clearly list all required specifications on your RFQ so Aerospace Metals can ensure compliance.
Do you offer Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery for materials?
Yes. For customers with recurring production needs, Aerospace Metals can set up JIT delivery programs. We hold inventory of your specific material sizes and release them on a scheduled basis, helping you manage cash flow and floor space.
Aerospace Metals does not have a strict minimum order policy for standard inventory items; we happily support prototype builds. However, specialized non-stock items sourced from mills may be subject to manufacturer minimums. We will always communicate this clearly in your quote.
